Indiana Jones 4 trailer

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

So I guess this qualifies as a viral video… I had the pleasure of catching the Indiana Jones 4 trailer the day it was released and it was a pleasureful morning in part because the trailer actually looked good, content wise if not quality. The trailer brought back some nice memories from my childhood when movies lived up to expectations or better yet set expectations so high they would never be met. For many kids my age it was Star Wars and I put myself in the mix as a fan but not a fanatic, but my true hero was Indiana Jones and the chills it brought me as a eleven year old. I remember begging my grandmother to bring me to the theater to see the original over and over and her tolerating the film to see me enjoy it. Months later I traded a copy of “The Howling” for a betamax copy of the original Indiana Jones and watched it over and over with the very poor quality, dubbed a thousand times look that it had. Anyway a few days back when I saw the “sneak peek” of the trailer on the WGN morning news ripped off from the web with a quality very degrated and similar to the old Beta film that gave me chills years ago I got chills again. Not necessarily because the trailer was amazing but because it brought me back to my childhood again when Indiana Jones was the man.

MONEL video about Iraq

Friday, February 1st, 2008

So I was watching the fox video of Montel Williams when he’s asked a question about Heath Ledgers death and started going off on all the dead soldiers not getting attention in Iraq and it got me thinking. I’m getting a little sick of all the paparazzi coverage of things, mostly Brittany Spears, and I can see the Heath Ledger coverage building a little but at least there was some news there. The thing that pissed me off with Montel is that regardless of how much he’s put into the public awareness of the war he’ll still be a hypocrite in my book and gets a thumbs down for taking an any means necessary approach to getting his Iraq message across. Take a deep breath Montel and focus your anger in a more positive way towards the politicians who can make a difference.

Posting clips on NEW SITES

Saturday, November 3rd, 2007

Started posting our videos to three new sites over the weekend. VEOH.COM , CRACKLE.COM and STUPIDVIDEOS.COM are three great sites. I love youtube for the mass qualities but I really am hoping that our videos, especially the NEW SERIES can find a permanent exclusive home. One of the pluses would be building a home and hopefully having a revenue stream so we can continue making the videos with less focus on us having to package the advertisers. Our advertiser base is growing but is still very small, it also gives us more time to focus on the creative.

I can’t wait to release the new videos we have produced but I want to try to see if we can find an exclusive home that will really market and promote the film. Hopefully more to come soon.

Video clips for new feature film.

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

ViralFilmVideo.com has been hired to create new video clips for an upcoming feature film directed by Joe Otting called “Under New Management.” The clips that were filmed late October will play on video screens within the feature film and hopefully will be showcased at a theater near you on the big screen. Contractually we’re not able to show you the clips until after the movie premieres, but you’ll have to trust us that they look great. Thanks to Joe and everyone at The Good Film, LP for thinking of us and best of luck with the rest of the film.

Website not right on PC’s and NEW LOGO

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

I had the chance yesterday to check out my updates to the website on our PC laptop and I noticed several spots where things were noticebly different on a pc than on a mac. Michelle pointed out that this is not uncommon and that Duh, I should have known better. Part of me knew it was a possibility things would be different on a PC than a mac but I barely figured out how to update the site and didn’t want to admit there was a problem until I could figure out how to solve it. So for anybody who has looked at the site on a PC we know there’s still a little work to do. On a positive note, many of you have seen the new VFV logo designed by our graphic designer Augusto Villatoro. NEW LOGO He’s a great designer and very efficient allowing us to use cool graphics when needed but still stay affordable. I hopefully will add the new logo header to the site today and look forward to doing more and more branding as time goes by.

Interim Website

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

We made some changes to our website on an interim basis and look forward to doing a better job of keeping things up to date. The best part about the website changes is that I was able to pull them off myself. Until recently, Michelle or Pat had to help update the website and as a result it was less of a priority because there was always something else to do. Now that I’ve finally sat in front of Dreamweaver long enough to learn how to make updates and we’ll hopefully be able to better keep the site updated. We still will probably switch down the road to a drupal site and are working on a prototype now, but we can take our time with the transition and really make a splash when we re-launch.

Marketing to potential clients

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

I’m working on getting a few new shows off the ground and the content is very amazing. I can’t wait to tell you more about them. I’m also trying to find a new home for our new series and really hope something comes through. The ideal scenario is to have the show on Blip.tv but I’m worried that I wouldn’t get the promotion needed. Our past series including Pitchman have pretty much been learning the ins and outs of a new media venture and now we’re really psyched and ready to do it for real. I talked to Mike Hudack from blip.tv and he seemed like a great guy, and gave me some advice for the ASSISTED LIVING show involving toning down a little some of the graphic content. I know we can still be edgy and funny not crossing the line to what most people would be offended. So we’re ready to post the first five episodes of ASSISTED LIVING and are about to start shooting the two untitled new series. Here’s to the excitement of starting a new show and saying goodbye (at least temporarily) to Pitchman, 1.5 million hits later on YouTube alone. Send me an e-mail if you want the low down on the new show. dave@viralfilmvideo.com or give us a call. DAVE
